Build Your Career in the Fast-Growing Asset Management Industry

The asset management industry is rapidly expanding. With global assets under management (AUM) projected to reach $145T by 2025, this vertical is experiencing significant growth and accelerating the development of fintech firms. It is also creating abundant career opportunities for talented professionals, especially engineers.

Just ask Abhishek Banerjee, Director of Product Strategy for Data Management Solutions at IVP. He is a prime example of the professional development opportunities this industry offers.

Banerjee began his professional journey with Infosys after completing his B.Tech in electronics and communications. Later, he pursued an MBA to prepare himself for more challenging opportunities and expand his horizons. Then he joined IVP as a business analyst. He has since become a senior business analyst, associate director, and director.

According to Banerjee, the asset management industry offers unique opportunities for career growth and development outside of strict academic qualifications. At IVP, for example, he has worked predominantly on the product management side for multiple product segments, a role that involves multiple areas of his expertise. But there is not a straight line to be drawn from his degree in electronics and communications to his current role.In that role, Banerjee has firsthand experience of how fintech solutions help asset managers optimize efficiency, accuracy, and profitability across all investment strategies. Looking ahead, Banerjee sees vast potential for growth in alternative investment allocation, which will create even more opportunities for engineers.

“In the asset management space, we see immense potential for growth in alternative investment allocation,” he says in a new feature in CEO Insights. “This is driving growth in a plethora of investment firms, and we are also seeing increase in the diversity as well the complexity in investments. The regulatory focus has increased over the years and the interest on ESG is on the rise. Over the last couple of years, investment in digital transformation is also increasing, and we anticipate this trend to continue in the coming years.”

Given these trends, the asset management industry offers a plethora of opportunities for engineers to build a strong career, and remains committed to investing in employee growth and success. Overall, the industry offers an exciting platform for professionals seeking to broaden their horizons and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
